Playing an HD DVD on a Blu-Ray

June 20th, 2016

Blu-ray is the latest innovation in discs for movie storage and viewing. It is currently the optimal technology for high-definition movies and videos. Each disc holds up to 25 gigabytes of movie data, and a double-layer disc can hold up to 50. Blu-ray disc players can also play DVDs, and automatically give them a “boost” to make them look more high-definition. If you have an HD DVD, you can play it easily on your Blu-ray player.

Things Needed

  • Blu-ray player.
  • HD DVD.
  • Check that your TV and your Blu-ray player are turned on and plugged in.
  • Open the player lid and put in the HD DVD with the side you want to play facing down. Close the lid.
  • Push play on the Blu-ray player or on your remote control. The disc will play normally. You may also need to set your TV to “DVD” mode if the disc doesn’t start playing automatically.
  • Enjoy.
